Once you have your selection narrowed down to a few different tables, then it is time to consider what style your kitchen is and how the tables you are considering will look inside that decor. Matching the color and wood of the cabinets is a great way to get a clue about what kind of style you will need for your decor. For example, a country kitchen with white cabinets pretty much needs a white table. A more modern kitchen will probably look great with black or dark wood. Glass or marble also make very elegant choices for a contemporary kitchen.
If the kitchen is the heart of a home, the kitchen table is the heart of the kitchen. Placed in the middle of the space, with equal distance from the stove, the sink, the pantry, or the refrigerator, a spacious table allows a person to prepare delicious food without hassle. What Makes a Great Kitchen Table? A good kitchen table needs to meet certain requirements. First, its tabletop should be made of heavy-duty material, like solid hardwood. A kitchen table would undergo far more wear and tear than any other table in the house. Warm pans, sharp knives, heavy pots, and wet vegetables or meat will always be placed or used over it. A table made of any other material would be easily destroyed under these circumstances. Then, its legs should be strong enough to withstand heavy weights and constant movement over the tabletop. And lastly, a kitchen table should also be easy to clean, and pleasant to look at. It should be made to withstand years and years of rigorous use.
A bistro style table is a small round table, with a glass top and metal legs, although some are made out of wood. The bistro look can be a rather inexpensive decor for your kitchen. This European look consists of a small and informal looking place, like a restaurant or tavern. For an eat-in style kitchen, creating the look of a bistro or cafe style kitchen can be easy. A round bistro table with accent chairs is a must. You can use a glass topped table with iron legs or a taller pub style wooden table. Maybe a mosaic or tile topped table will suit your style better.
Mix & Match: With both contemporary and rustic themed kitchens, you could consider being a bit bold and selecting kitchen table and chair sets that do not exactly match. This will add a bit of a whimsical fun touch to your kitchen. If you prefer having your chair sets match your table you could, instead, select chair pads in different styles and colors to bring a fresh look to your kitchen; one that you can change frequently with the seasons or as your mood suits you. Whatever your kitchen theme, be sure to select the right table that not only fits in with your current style but also suits your lifestyle. For example, a glass topped table is not necessarily the best choice for your family if your family spends a lot of time at it doing crafts, projects, or any other heavy-use activity.
