When measuring to see what size kitchen tables you should be looking at, there are several dimensions that should be taken into account. These dimensions will also help you figure out which shape of table will be best for your particular kitchen. First start by measuring any wall space you have to put the table against. Many kitchens do not have any wall space for a table, so this step may not be needed. Next measure the entire room, length and width. Using those measurements, mark off the necessary space that you actually need to be able to walk around the kitchen freely. Imagine what the room will look like if there is a table right in the middle of it. Think about whether this will disrupt your workflow of cooking and how small it needs to be in order to not get in the way. Once you are armed with these measurements, then it is time to hop online and start looking at pictures.
Traditionally, square or rectangular tables have been the choice for American homes when it comes to having a dining space in the kitchen. The common belief is that it makes a better use of the space. The truth lies somewhere in between. While the same size square table can offer more table space than round kitchen tables, the tradeoff, at least in some homes with more challenging space, is less room to maneuver around it. With round kitchen tables, you get the added advantage of the softer lines of the table, allowing everyone to spread out a bit more, particularly with a pedestal model. Because there are no hard edges, a round table will not only give you more elbow room, but allow your guests to get in and out of their chairs more easily, especially if space is a little tight.
For a lot of people, the dining room or living room in many modern houses no longer features quality functional kitchen tables. Having friends over is so much more fun when you can have a hot cup of tea in the comfort of the kitchen, surrounded by goodies and treats. The dining room is a bit too formal and often set for your next entertaining gathering or other items you probably would rather not expose to daily use such as fine china and silverware. Kitchen tables are considered a furnishing that won‘t be sacrificed for "open space" in many living room home decor presentations right now. Contemporary kitchen tables feature styles and building materials that compliment modern furnishings in any modern decor scheme, so that they‘ll fit into any kitchen decor.
Size and Shape: The very first thing that should be taken into consideration is the size of the table. Kitchen tables come in every size imaginable, from the very small table that only seats two, up to a large dining table that seats twelve. It is pretty unusual to see a large table that seats twelve without a separate dining room, but it is certainly a possibility if you have the space.
