A simple way of knowing the quality of a faucet is looking for the manufacturer‘s guarantee. This shows that the product has a backing from the makers. Needless to say they are confident about what they have put on the market. And in case there is a defect or problem; it would be fixed at no added cost to you. A kitchen faucet is a long-term investment so go for a classic design and not something trendy that you would have to replace in a few months. Furthermore, take into consideration the water pressure. Try to verify the slightest water pressure compatible with the faucet on your buying mind with the seller.
There are 2 main faucet styles when it comes to kitchen use. There is the single-level faucet and the double-handle faucet. The single-handle faucet allows you control water flow and temperature with only one hand. The other hand can be used for the rinsing spray feature. The knobs straddle on either side of the faucet frame and have a modern look about them. This allows them snugly fit with any kitchen design or style. Double handle faucets are more classic-looking and fit into a single hole in the worktop. They come with separate levers that control hot and cold water. These offer a better option for controlling temperatures when compared to single-level faucets.
Time for chemistry class. Faucet exteriors are assaulted with charged metal atoms. These particles bond chemically to the surface of the base metal by a procedure called physical vapor deposition, or PVD. The issue is that different metals have an effect on assorted finishes. Even nickel and bronze. The evaluation team discovered that faucets with PVD finishes stood strong despite their honest attempts to scratch and mar them. PVD finishes are not 100% bullet proof however and heavy-duty corrosives (i.e. drain cleaner) can lightly discolor them.
A shiny chrome plated faucet is common in scores of kitchens today. Chrome is quite durable but can be scratched with a heavy-duty scouring pad. If you enjoy the look of chrome, use care when cleaning your faucet. Also evaluated were the single-handled faucets which are the most popular design. They combine spray head and spout for added convenience and flexibility. But the test findings apply to other faucets designs as well.
